Walk in the Light I was recently reading John 3 in a different translation of the Bible than I normally use. I enjoy when God sometimes gives me a fresh understanding of a passage simply because I read or heard it with different wording. In this case, verses 20 and 21 spoke volumes to me about our tendencies toward hiding. Just like Adam and Eve, we turn from the light-Jesus-because we want to stay hidden. We don't want our sins to be seen. If we are going to sin-(which we are because all have sinned and fallen short (Romans 3:23); there is no one righteous, not even one (Romans 3:10))-we want to make sure we are as concealed as possible. Fear of exposure and punishment keeps us away from the light-Jesus. God is teaching me that the right thing to do is to gladly come to Jesus because the issue is not so much the sin as it is what we do when we sin. Do we hide it, or do we run to Jesus? I don't know about you, but my first reaction is to hide rather than to walk in the light as He is in the light. (1 John 1:5-10)
