Nothing Helps?
By Mike Rule

Greetings my friends, I'm back on the road again, and today I'm enjoying a nice morning cup of coffee in a Starbucks in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Things are going well on this trip and I continue to see the faithfulness of God.

I have been pondering a passage over the last few days and I want to share it with you.

“I've tried everything and nothing helps. I'm at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? Isn't that the real question? The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different.” (Romans 7:24-25 MSG)

There is good news for us - Christ IS our life. We are not who we have fooled ourselves into believing we are. We are holy, righteous, blameless, acceptable and pure. Yes, the flesh is corrupt but 2 Cor 5:16 reminds us to not regard ourselves that way. We are complete in Christ and our life is hidden with Christ in God (see Colossians). What God says about you is absolutely true, and what you say about yourself is nothing but lies! (Romans 3:4)

Today the lying flesh is going to attempt to convince you there is no hope for you, but praise God that there is nothing anyone can do apart from Him. You may be at the end of your rope, but the answer is that Jesus Christ can and does EVERYTHING for you. Simply rest in what He has for you. Believe what He says, not what you tell yourself. Our Redeemer is faithful and True.

Verses For Reflection

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption by which we cry, Abba, Father! The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.” (Romans 8:14-16)
