The Hidden Truth A while ago the Lord revealed how we are ever seeing but never perceiving, ever hearing but never understanding. People regularly question the message of Christ being all we need. I am often asked where obedience fits in to the message of Christ's indwelling life because scripture commands us to "do" so many things. Jesus has told us that the truths of the Kingdom of God are hidden so they will be "ever seeing but never perceiving, ever hearing but never understanding." Our problem is we refuse to completely depend upon Him for ALL things because we want to be justified for our efforts. God is genius for keeping this truth hidden so that revelation cannot be attained through human effort. We can only receive truth as He reveals it. When God does the work, there is nothing for man to glory in. Only then do we see that the commands of God are really His promises showing what a person's life looks like as Christ's life flows out from within. Once God opens our eyes, we cannot help but see it; but until He does, we are blind and have a different gospel. (see Galatians 1:6-12) I praise God that Jesus has always been and will always be ALL we need! Verses for Reflection "At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank You, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the sophisticated and cunning, and revealed them to babes." (Matthew 11:25) "even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you; so that you come behind in no gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. He shall also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 1:6-8) "But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, which God has hidden, predetermining it before the world for our glory;" (1 Corinthians 2:7) "This grace is given to me (who am less than the least of all saints) to preach the gospel of the unsearchable riches of Christ among the nations, and to bring to light what is the fellowship of the mystery which from eternity has been hidden in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ;" (Ephesians 3:8-9) "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give to him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows except he who receives it ." (Revelation 2:17) "But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor adulterating the Word of God, but by the revelation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God." (2 Corinthians 4:2) "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him," (Ephesians 1:17) "if you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given to me toward you, that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I wrote before in few words, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)" (Ephesians 3:2-4) "Therefore girding up the loins of your mind, being sober, perfectly hope for the grace being brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ," (1 Peter 1:13) |
