The Fullness of Christ
by Mike Rule
We are each complete in Christ, but that does not mean that the expression of
Christ will ever be complete through us as individuals. Jesus is only completely
manifested when He is expressed collectively through all God's children. None of
us will ever attain a complete understanding of truth and be totally yielded to
Him simply because we have flesh which can only be surrendered, not eliminated.
It is through the yielded children of God that we can begin to piece together
who Jesus is. The Church was created to collectively give us a glimpse of the
infinite Jesus we love. Therefore, each one of us IS necessary!
Each person is created with a unique personality designed to be under the
ruling influence of Christ. The day we accepted Him as Savior He came to dwell
in us. The fullness of Jesus that lies within each of God's children is
expressed through the filter of our personality in a way that cannot be seen
through anyone else. It is important to understand that Christ, as He expresses
Himself through us, does not give anyone a complete picture of Who Jesus really
is. By design we are each lacking in some way simply because of our flesh. This
is an incredible gift from God for two reasons. First, God would not have
created us with a unique personality only to annihilate it. If this was His
intention, there would be no need for other people on the earth. Someone would
be unnecessary if we were all the same! Second, if Jesus were ever completely
displayed through an individual, people would end up worshipping that person
instead of Him.
It is a challenge to allow Jesus to express Himself in and through us by
being ourselves. Jesus as expressed through your unique personality is a person
the world needs to see. If it were not so, He would not have created you. Praise
God for His amazing workmanship!
