Our Selfless God

Sometimes it seems that God is so self serving. He always wants the glory and the credit for everything! Is He a glory monger or what?

First off, God's love must have an object and we were created to be the object of His love. He loves us so much that when He created us He built into us one very unique thing. The only way any moral creature can be totally fulfilled and happy in life is to be focused on someone outside of itself. From the very beginning, God humbled Himself and became the object of that focus for us because He loves us so much! It wasn't to make Him happy; it is an expression of His unfathomable selfless love for us. He did it just for US!

Introspective focus brings us into emptiness and despair. Being focused on other people doesn't fill the void because it is a God-sized void. Being focused on Him brings total peace and fulfillment and we are happy and content. I found so much joy when I realized His agenda is me! It is you too! It is His children. It is always in keeping with His total love for us and His total commitment to us. He is not a glory monger; all He has in mind is us! That is the ultimate in selfless love. That is the LOVE of Jesus!

Can we set aside our bent toward being focused on self so that we can be completely fulfilled and happy? It is only in losing our lives that we truly find Life. It is only in giving up completely on self that we can ever be fulfilled and happy. Jesus is all we need.
