Complete In Him
By Mike Rule
We make the basis of our Christian life inspiration (I'm
uplifted), perspiration (I'm working hard at it) education (I'm
learning the right doctrine, theology, beliefs, etc.) But it's
not based in inspiration, perspiration, or education, it's based
in revelation. We cannot bring that into ourselves. It's that way
by design. We don't pray Lord make me feel, work or learn... we
pray Lord let us rest and allow you to reveal yourself to us. Our
greatest threat to God is not what we cannot do, for we know our
dependency on Him in that area. Our threat is what we can do.
When we think we can, then we don't see our need. This is the
danger of good. He doesn't ask us to be good, He declares that we
ARE holy. When we see our need we can be encouraged because that
is the first step. We can be assured that He is moving and
working. The danger there is seeing the need and working hard to
change. But we cannot change because we are being who He created
us to be. We are created in His image. We were created for glory.
Because we are in His image, we can create glory for ourselves,
but He doesn't want us to have glory for ourselves, He wants us
to radiate His glory. So we run off trying to accomplish all that
we see we need, and we ask Him to bless our effort. But He does
not bless, and we end up at the end of our strength saying,
"where did you go?" Then we begin to understand that we
must rest in Him, and we make great effort at resting and
abiding. But we find this fails too. He brings difficulty,
adversity, and problems into our lives and abiding ends up being
a frustration to us. And through that frustration He is working
to accomplish one thing... the revelation of Himself and His
glory.
When we see the "can do" that we thought
we "could do", but now know we cannot, then He can
and we abide. Then HE will flow through us.
We don't seek to become stronger, but weaker, and more
dependent. And His strength is perfected in our weakness.
Let me ask a question... do you know that right at this very
moment you are dead center in His will? Rate your relationship
with God on a scale of 1 - 10. (1=distant, 10=the closest
possible) If you score anything other than 10, you are saying
that there is something you must do to gain a closer relationship
with Him. You see, the issue isn't that some have gained 10 and
some have not. If we have Christ in us, we are all 10's. We don't
need to become closer, we need the revelation of where we are. He
has us exactly where He wants us, in the exact place at the exact
time, to accomplish exactly what He wants to accomplish through
us. He is moving in our circumstances to bring us to the end of
ourselves and come to the full realization of who we are in
Christ. We are complete in Him. So every thing that comes into
our lives (outside of our fleshly selfish choices... and even
those He uses) is by his hand alone. Whether good, or bad, God is
the one doing it, and it is for one purpose... to define God and
show us what "is God", and what is "not God".
It is to differentiate between Himself and my "self".
It is all to reveal how desperately we need Him, and all that HE
is doing for us every moment of every day. You are complete in
Him, and are exactly where He wants you to be, so you can relax.
If He wanted you somewhere else, you would be there.
