The White Stone I was recently walking along the beach of Lake Huron, spending some time listening to the Lord. There was nothing in particular on my mind, and my thoughts flowed along like the countless grains of brown sand. Nothing stood out, nothing was noticeable, nothing was spectacular. As the monotony of the brown sand rolled by under my feet, something suddenly caught my eye: a simple little white stone. It wasn’t anything spectacular, but nonetheless it stood out. So it was with my reflections. Thoughts were rolling by with nothing standing out, but then something would suddenly surface. When God speaks it is most often through the monotony of our own thoughts, but it stands out by the contrast of everything surrounding it. When I saw the white stone, a “white thought” came with it – and this article is the result. I knew it was God speaking as I heard these words in my mind when noticing that white rock. “It’s Me, Mike. This is the way I speak to you. It may not be spectacular, but is does stand out.” Verses for Reflection: “He said, Go forth, and stand on the mountain before the LORD. Behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” 1Kings 19:11, 12 LITV “The one who is of God hears the Words of God...” John 8:47 LITV “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 LITV “…Everyone being of the Truth hears My voice.” John 18:37 LITV |
