Who are You, Lord?
by Becky Rule

Over a year ago, God spoke powerfully to me through the story found in John 6, Mark 6, and Matthew 14. The disciples are in a boat during a storm when Jesus comes to them walking on the water, but they don't recognize Him and won't receive Him into their boat. It struck me that those who should have recognized him, didn't. I can relate. God has looked much different to me than I thought He would. My prayer has become, "Lord, let me receive You into my boat even when You don't look like I think You should. I want my eyes to be opened (Matthew 20:33). Let me recognize You." I'm learning that He does look differently than I thought He would at times, but He is faithful to let me see that it is truly Him, at which point I can choose faith (receiving Him) or to continue on in fear and unbelief. I am learning to depend less on what my head says He should be and more on Him.
