Good or Evil?
By Mike Rule
We eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil by making judgments
about what is good and bad in our own and other's lives. Once we claim what is
good and what is bad, we lose our peace and our joy and the issues overwhelm us.
Our focus becomes keeping the good happening and preventing the bad from
occurring. As a result we cannot find freedom from the situations we are in.
It is a challenge to remember that we want to see Christ's fullness revealed.
This is especially difficult for us as we deal with those we especially care
about. When we lean on our own understanding about what is good and bad in life,
our sympathy and our desire to comfort can impede God's work. We emotionally
react to situations rather than responding to the Spirit. It is vital that we
eat from the Tree of Life. Jesus continually challenges us to seek Him and walk
by faith, allowing His peace to rule our hearts.
