All We Need

There is so much today that tells me what I must do in order to have perfect peace. Pray this way, follow this thing, get involved in this or that program, read this book, worship this way, read this scripture... While I agree that every one of these things has their place, I have to ask the question, "Do I really believe that Jesus is really all I need?"

Anything that tells me what I must do for Jesus is not the way. Anything that tells me what Jesus is doing for me this moment is the way. Jesus IS the way, the truth and the life. There is NO other way. Think of all He is doing for you right now! He is your holiness. He is your righteousness. He is your sanctification. He is your love. He is your peace. He is your Life. He is your joy. He is your acceptance. He is your everything! Everything begins and ends at Him. He is the Alpha and the Omega! He is keeping you this very moment. He is loving you this very moment. He is perfecting your faith this very moment! He is revealing to you how desperately you need Him. He is doing so much more than we could ever comprehend.

The state of our own hearts is not as important as Jesus. I can spend so much time focused on my myself that it depresses me. The state of other's hearts is not as important as Jesus either. I can spend so much time thinking about other's hearts that it becomes the driving force of my life. Jesus has told us that He will keep us in perfect peace if our minds are stayed on Him! Everything else gives way to Him and is the result of His presence. We can keep chasing after symptoms, or we can get to the root cause. We have Jesus. Jesus has us. In Him everything is made complete. What else could we possibly need?
