Theology We often want to force people into defining their theology point by point. As I have sought the Lord's mind on this, He has reminded me of the faith statement He defined for our ministry: Jesus is all we need. He told me I was free to add anything to it, but if I defined it then I must defend it. He has challenged me to walk by faith and not sight, knowing that He will defend what He defines. At a conference for pastors and their wives, one fellow was greatly challenged by the message we shared. In talking afterwards he explained that he was seriously wrestling because he could see truth in what we were saying but it sounded so Calvinistic. I was a bit surprised at this observation because I would never have thought that, but as I looked at it through "Arminian eyes" I could see his point. I also saw how someone with a Calvinistic background would say our views are Arminian. Both vantage points have merit, but neither one is complete in itself. They reveal our attempts to put God in a box. I would not have a clue how to label our teaching. All I can tell is what I have seen and what I have heard. I am not sharing a concept; I am sharing my life. I am sharing Jesus. |
